Wonderful cottage

Olde Blue Bell Cottage:
Wonderful cottage, lovely village location. We were all made very welcome especially Lilly/ Lou the dogs with there sofa blanket left for them. Some lovely walks in the local area. Heversham hotel pub was very welcoming to all.

Thanks for your lovely review. So glad that Lilly & Lou enjoyed their blanket and all the lovely walks in this area. Great to meet you all. Hope to see you again sometime. Mary

Coach House

Loved the Coach House, plenty of room for 3 adults, 2 teenagers and a large boisterous labrador. The property was immaculately clean, very well equipped, even down to coffee, tea, sugar, cling film and kitchen roll! Washing machine and dishwasher made life much easier too. Mary was very welcoming and helpful, pointing out some great places to visit and walk the dog. We can definitely recommend Arnside, Coniston and the walk up Heversham Head for stunning views. Thank you Mary for a great stay.

So glad you enjoyed your week. It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family. I'm delighted that you loved the Coach House, and got to so many stunning places during the course of the week. I'd be happy to welcome you back anytime. Mary

Just what we wanted

Olde Blue Bell Cottage is ideally sited for visiting the southern Lake District and the accommodation suited the needs of our family and dogs. The cottage is well-arranged, well-equipped, clean and comfortable with a convenient sitting-out area. The owner is caring and made us feel very welcome. We thoroughly recommend this venue.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, and for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy. It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely dogs. So glad you were able to see so much of this beautiful area, and that the cottage provided a relaxing base for you to return to. Hope to see you again sometime. Mary

Relax and breathe!

We have stayed at Olde Blue Bell cottages for 10 years, it is a very special retreat for us away from the fast-lane of work and family life. The peace and tranquility of the area makes us immediately slow-down. The accessibility to great Lake District walks and local walks (Heversham Head) is wonderful - our dog (Henry) sleeps for a week when we return home! Can't wait for our next trip to the cottage.

Me and the kids had a brilliant time again. Would definitely come back again - have done so once already. Mary even fixed the fantastic weather for us in February. Super!!

It has been a joy!

It has been a joy staying in Olde Blue Bell Cottage, owned by someone who understands the needs of holiday makers. Yours has been one of the best in our considerable experience.

A wonderful week

We had a wonderful week! So much to do, so little time. The Coach House is so warm, comfortable and exactly as advertised. Lovely part of the Lakes. We will be back.

Olde Blue Bell Barn proved to be even better than expected. The living/dining room is bigger and brighter than the online photos suggest, with 3 large windows with a view of the estuary in the distance. We had 2 large dogs with us who had plenty of room and an enclosed garden area with high fencing, which was an added bonus. The location is perfectly situated for exploring the Lakes, Dales and coast. Arnside became a firm favourite for walking the dogs and our love of photography. Mary the owner is a gem, with a natural warmth. All in all, we can't wait to return!

The cottages are great! They satisfy every need and they are well managed by the owner who is on hand when needed. They are comfortable and well equipped with all you would need for your holidays. We've been twice now and would be happy to come again and again. Well placed and inexpensive compared to the pricier Lake District accommodations. Easy access from the cottages to all you would wish to visit in the Lakes..even by bus from the back door!!

Having stayed now for 4 years running in both the Olde Blue Bell Cottage and the Coach House I can thoroughly recommend either properties if you wish a most enjoyable stay in the Lake District.
Mary who owes the cottages is very friendly and welcoming and nothing is ever a problem to request, she is also very knowledgeable about the area and places to go, The cottages are very comfortable and tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped. They are a home from home to suit all ages and our dog was also made welcome. There is tons to do in the area from walks with the dog, to hiring a boat to tree top treks. There are also loads of places to eat out but also supermarkets close by if you want to stay home and eat in. I can see this being a yearly trip for us and was disappointed this year that I had not booked two weeks. Thank you Mary for all you do and for providing us with a stress free holiday for the last 4 years.

The Coach House

We stayed at the Coach House at the end of March and had a truly enjoyable stay in beautiful surroundings. Mary was so welcoming and a font of knowledge. The accommodation was all we could ask for, a real home from home, everything that was necessary for a perfect holiday. Would love to have stayed for a second week! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Thank you for your lovely review. I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Coach House, and exploring this beautiful area. We hope we will see you again sometime. Mary

I have just spent a week at Olde Bluebell Barn. It’s a lovely place and the pictures do not do it justice. I could quite easily live there. It is ideally located and is such a lovely place. Mary is very warm, friendly and helpful. I just cannot fault the accommodation and hope to return there very soon. Best place I have stayed in so far with the dog. Also the double bed is very comfortable. I was sad to leave.

Home from Home

This year was our fourth year back at Blue Bell Cottage, we had a wonderful holiday the cottage is conveniently located for easy access to the rest of the lakes. There are plenty of lovely walks close by if you don’t want to travel to far such as Sandside, Arnside, Levens Park and Dallam Park. There’s plenty of local pubs serving excellent food within a 10 minute drive the Hare and Hounds at Leven and the Watermill at Ings are both worth a visit. Mary is a gem nothing is to much trouble for her and she’s the font of all knowledge about the Lake District. We’ve already booked to come back next year and can’t wait our family and dogs love it!

Fantastic Cottage

Fantastic location just 8 minutes from M6 motorway with easy access to travel around the Lake District yet located in a lovely quiet village. Many lively walks within easy reach, great if like us you have a dog. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a very comfortable stay including a lovely enclosed garden area with table and access to a BBQ, again great if you have a dog or small children. The cottage is very cosy with heating if needed, a new modern bathroom and well equipped kitchen. This is our fifth year staying in the cottage and the owner, Mary is absolutely lovely, nothing is any bother, she has become more of a friend over the years. Cannot recommend the cottage highly enough and great value too. Plenty of really good restaurants and pubs nearby and short joirney time to May places of interest such as Arnside, Kendal, Keswick and Lake Windemere. We’ll certainly be back again!

My husband and I have just spent three days/nights here and it was wonderful. The pictures of the cottage are fab but even they can’t do justice to how welcome and at home you feel when you walk through the door. The location is also fantastic because you feel remote, yet in just one mile you have a super restaurant, shops, pubs, butchers etc., and great local walks too (all thanks to Mary’s information folder!). We really felt spoilt for choice. A fantastic break that I wish had been longer!

The Coach House was perfect for our friend’s reunion weekend. Spacious but very warm and cosy so didn’t care about the weather outside!! Would definitely recommend to others

Well we just love it here. Stayed about 4 or 5 times now and in all weathers!! Hot, Snowy, rainy and perfect every time. Everything you could wish for, lovely walks, pubs, hiking , Shops close by, and most of all such a cosy well maintained cottage with a lovely hostess Mary to top it all, look forward to our next trip x x

Our grandson was immediately taken with the “upside down” cottage we loved the fantastic views. The cottage was warm, clean and well equipped and owners were very helpful and supplied plenty of local info within the cottage. We found it to be the perfect base for exploring, just so much to do every day. Our grandson Jack (4yrs) told us “It’s the best holiday ever” what more could you ask!

Just got back from a great week at the cottage, it’s in a good location with easy access to the rest of the Lakes, we visited Bowness on Windermere, Keswick, Kendal, Dallam and Levens Parks, Fell Foot and Arnside coastal walk, our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their holiday. Lovely walk 2 minutes away up to Heversham Head. Mary was really helpful so much information we were spoilt for choice where to visit first. Local pub 2 minutes’ walk away is great for an evening drink and wind down.

Olde Blue Bell Barn, Sharon, July 2013
4 of us stayed in The Barn and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location-wise, the local pub is only a five-minute walk away; the village centre only a five-minute drive. We took our Staffie with us and there were plenty of walks for us to enjoy. Accommodation-wise, the scenery from the lounge window was breath-taking. The rooms were clean, comfortable and warm. The welcome pack listed all local amenities including restaurants to takeaways and local attractions. Overall we were all very impressed 🙂

The Coach House, Stuart Pratt, February 2013
We stayed in the wonderful cottage for four nights, and can honestly say that the amenities and quality of accommodation was 5 star, everything you need for your stay is provided along with tea, coffee and other provisions provided by the owner Mary when you arrive. Location and surrounding area is perfect for Windermere and Arnside. Our children loved the cottage and will most definitely not be using any other accommodation as I believe this cannot be bettered.

We returned to the cottage after having stayed 10 years previous! The cottage has a fantastic view and is well equipped with all the home comforts, pets are very welcome and it is a great base for exploring the south lakes .the owners are nearby if you need any advice or information on days out. We will definitely be returning in the future.

We have just spent a week at The Coach House celebrating my wife’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. We really enjoyed our stay as the accommodation and location were excellent. The house is a credit to Mary and really does feel like a home from home. As for the location, this was our 1st visit to The Lakes and The Coach House gave us excellent access to all the beauty spots including Ambleside, Bowness etc. Kendal is also a stone’s throw away for all your shopping needs. We hope to return.
