Located in a perfect spot

Mary was a fantastic host. The cottage was so well equipped and was incredibly clean. It’s located in a perfect spot, easily accessible to the Lakes and the coast. We had a really comfortable two week stay and would definitely recommend staying here.

Coach house

I had a lovely stay at the coach house, the cottage was spacious and private. I felt really relaxed and my dog was quite at home. The little touches on arrival made us feel really welcome and the location was fantastic. I will be booking again in the near future thanks for our stay 🙂

Beautiful Cottage

Mary was brilliant! Very informative and friendly. Before our visit she was happy to answer any questions we had and responded quickly. On arrival day, we had been there about half an hour when Mary came to introduce herself, and tell us about some of her favourite local spots. Beautifully presented Cottage with easy access to 3 counties! (Olde Blue Bell Barn)

Cracking place to stay in a lovely area

Amazing location. Didn’t realise how much there was to do in the area without having to travel too far and only took an hour to get home to Manchester which was a bonus! Property has everything you could want for a relaxing, enjoyable stay. Mary the host was lovely and very knowledgeable. My husband asked for a couple of suggestions and she certainly didn’t disappoint! Cracking place to stay in a lovely area. (Olde Blue Bell Cottage)

Lovely and very good value

We had a great week in the Old Bluebell Barn as part of an extended family holiday in the 3 properties. The Barn has a lovely light living room with beautiful views (the photos do not do it justice); the kitchen was well supplied with cooking equipment and plenty of crockery and cutlery; the beds were comfortable and all the furnishings attractive. The garden was a quiet, private sun trap. All the houses had a selection of books and dvds, in case of rain (which we did not get).
Mary was a very helpful hostess, providing plenty of local information and able to recommend walks and places to eat. We loved the fish and chips from Arnside and Levens Hall cafe.
The three houses are very close which was great as we were able to eat all together each night in one of the gardens having cooked in the separate kitchens.
Arnside and Silverdale is a beautiful area with plenty to do, so we were kept busy without needing to go into the more crowded areas of the Lakes.
All in all a great holiday in a lovely place. We are keen to return!

Would 100% stay again!

Mary’s cottage is fantastically located to explore all the Lakes have to offer. We felt at home instantly and with Mary’s recommendations, we felt like locals. Would 100% stay again! (Olde Blue Bell Cottage)

To see the lakes

We stayed at the Coach House. Thank you Mary for being so helpful. The place was clean and beds comfortable.Very well equipment kitchen. The cottage was easy base for us to get to all the lovely places around the lakes area. We were very lucky with the weather and sat outside in courtyard most evenings. Booths supermarket was close so could pop in if needed anything . Thank you again Mary, and if visiting the lakes again we would come back.

A beautiful, peaceful & comfortable stay

Olde Blue Bell Cottage  - Our family of 5 (two adults, three children) plus our dog had a wonderful week long stay. The cottage was a perfect, comfortable base for us while visiting family and exploring the South and Central Lakes. On our arrival we were welcomed with tea/ coffee, fresh milk and a box of chocolate treats! Even our dog received a ‘snuggle blanket’ to use during her stay! We all settled in very quickly as the cottage was clean and very cosy. The private courtyard was fully enclosed so our dog could be let off the lead here and we had space to sit or hang our washing. After a days fell walking and hiking, having a dishwasher, washing machine and cupboards stocking dishwasher tablets, soap, washing up liquid, pegs, aired and cleaning products really made our stay so much easier. Thanks Mary! The cottage is located in a very quiet road, with off road parking for two cars. There is a small children’s park very close by. A short drive takes you to Milnthorpe where there is a Booth’s supermarket. Overall, a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable stay.

The Coach House

We stayed at the Coach House at the end of March and had a truly enjoyable stay in beautiful surroundings. Mary was so welcoming and a font of knowledge. The accommodation was all we could ask for, a real home from home, everything that was necessary for a perfect holiday. Would love to have stayed for a second week! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Thank you for your lovely review. I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Coach House, and exploring this beautiful area. We hope we will see you again sometime. Mary

WoW!!!

I have just spent a week at Olde Bluebell Barn. It’s a lovely place and the pictures do not do it justice. I could quite easily live there. It is ideally located and is such a lovely place. Mary is very warm, friendly and helpful. I just cannot fault the accommodation and hope to return there very soon. Best place I have stayed in so far with the dog. Also the double bed is very comfortable. I was sad to leave.

Home from Home

This year was our fourth year back at Blue Bell Cottage, we had a wonderful holiday the cottage is conveniently located for easy access to the rest of the lakes. There are plenty of lovely walks close by if you don’t want to travel to far such as Sandside, Arnside, Levens Park and Dallam Park. There’s plenty of local pubs serving excellent food within a 10 minute drive the Hare and Hounds at Leven and the Watermill at Ings are both worth a visit. Mary is a gem nothing is to much trouble for her and she’s the font of all knowledge about the Lake District. We’ve already booked to come back next year and can’t wait our family and dogs love it!

Fantastic Cottage

Fantastic location just 8 minutes from M6 motorway with easy access to travel around the Lake District yet located in a lovely quiet village. Many lively walks within easy reach, great if like us you have a dog. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a very comfortable stay including a lovely enclosed garden area with table and access to a BBQ, again great if you have a dog or small children. The cottage is very cosy with heating if needed, a new modern bathroom and well equipped kitchen. This is our fifth year staying in the cottage and the owner, Mary is absolutely lovely, nothing is any bother, she has become more of a friend over the years. Cannot recommend the cottage highly enough and great value too. Plenty of really good restaurants and pubs nearby and short joirney time to May places of interest such as Arnside, Kendal, Keswick and Lake Windemere. We’ll certainly be back again!

My husband and I have just spent three days/nights here and it was wonderful. The pictures of the cottage are fab but even they can’t do justice to how welcome and at home you feel when you walk through the door. The location is also fantastic because you feel remote, yet in just one mile you have a super restaurant, shops, pubs, butchers etc., and great local walks too (all thanks to Mary’s information folder!). We really felt spoilt for choice. A fantastic break that I wish had been longer!

The Coach House was perfect for our friend’s reunion weekend. Spacious but very warm and cosy so didn’t care about the weather outside!! Would definitely recommend to others

Well we just love it here. Stayed about 4 or 5 times now and in all weathers!! Hot, Snowy, rainy and perfect every time. Everything you could wish for, lovely walks, pubs, hiking , Shops close by, and most of all such a cosy well maintained cottage with a lovely hostess Mary to top it all, look forward to our next trip x x

Our grandson was immediately taken with the “upside down” cottage we loved the fantastic views. The cottage was warm, clean and well equipped and owners were very helpful and supplied plenty of local info within the cottage. We found it to be the perfect base for exploring, just so much to do every day. Our grandson Jack (4yrs) told us “It’s the best holiday ever” what more could you ask!

Olde Blue Bell Cottage, Karen & Steve, August 2013
Just got back from a great week at the cottage, it’s in a good location with easy access to the rest of the Lakes, we visited Bowness on Windermere, Keswick, Kendal, Dallam and Levens Parks, Fell Foot and Arnside coastal walk, our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their holiday. Lovely walk 2 minutes away up to Heversham Head. Mary was really helpful so much information we were spoilt for choice where to visit first. Local pub 2 minutes’ walk away is great for an evening drink and wind down.

Olde Blue Bell Barn, Sharon, July 2013
4 of us stayed in The Barn and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location-wise, the local pub is only a five-minute walk away; the village centre only a five-minute drive. We took our Staffie with us and there were plenty of walks for us to enjoy. Accommodation-wise, the scenery from the lounge window was breath-taking. The rooms were clean, comfortable and warm. The welcome pack listed all local amenities including restaurants to takeaways and local attractions. Overall we were all very impressed 🙂

The Coach House, Stuart Pratt, February 2013
We stayed in the wonderful cottage for four nights, and can honestly say that the amenities and quality of accommodation was 5 star, everything you need for your stay is provided along with tea, coffee and other provisions provided by the owner Mary when you arrive. Location and surrounding area is perfect for Windermere and Arnside. Our children loved the cottage and will most definitely not be using any other accommodation as I believe this cannot be bettered.

Olde Blue Bell Barn, Nick Blunt, September 2012
We returned to the cottage after having stayed 10 years previous! The cottage has a fantastic view and is well equipped with all the home comforts, pets are very welcome and it is a great base for exploring the south lakes .the owners are nearby if you need any advice or information on days out. We will definitely be returning in the future.

The Coach House, Tony & Gina, September 2012
We have just spent a week at The Coach House celebrating my wife’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. We really enjoyed our stay as the accommodation and location were excellent. The house is a credit to Mary and really does feel like a home from home. As for the location, this was our 1st visit to The Lakes and The Coach House gave us excellent access to all the beauty spots including Ambleside, Bowness etc. Kendal is also a stone’s throw away for all your shopping needs. We hope to return.
