Roman Fort on Hardknott Pass

This fabulous photo shows the remains of the Roman Fort on Hardknott Pass, which dates back to Emporer Hadrian in 117 AD. Set amongst the autumnal bracken, the shape of the ruins are brilliantly highlighted. It’s free, open all year round and a spectacular drive.
